During those long winter months, did you think warm summer days would ever arrive? Summer officially starts on June twenty-first, but it already feels like summer, especially if you have children who are home from school. If you are wanting to entertain friends and outside, you may be wanting to add a patio to your home. If so, here are some ideas for giving your patio a charming look.

The Flooring - When you are making the plans for your patio, consider going from the bottom and working your way up.

  • Wood - A wooden deck would be traditional and really pretty. There are gorgeous selections in many different colors and types of wood. Cedar, mahogany and composites are all good choices. If you are doing the work yourself, consider deck tiles which are not hard to install. Another idea is to add a painted design to your wooden deck. Although wood weathers well, you'll need to paint it or stain it every few years to keep it looking nice.
  • Hardscape - Brick, flagstone and tile are all gorgeous choices, too. They're durable and, if repairs are needed as time goes by, that is easily accomplished. You may also want to think about selecting concrete. Not only is it affordable, but you can give it such great looks. Consider faux painting. Whether you do the faux painting yourself or you hire a professional,  the design you give your concrete is limited only by your imagination. It can simply be painted a great color, or it can be given the appearance of marble, brick, flagstone, intricate tile or even the look of a meadow of flowers. Concrete is really easy to care for, too. Simply spray it with the garden hose and it's ready to go. For more information, contact concrete contractors like AAA Concrete Construction Inc

The Decor - Selecting furniture and decor for your patio will give it a personal touch.

  • Consider selecting concrete furniture, too. A round concrete table with circular concrete benches going around it would complement any of the floor material you have selected. Another good choice would be a concrete picnic table with a wooden base. To make the seats more comfortable, think about adding attractive seat cushions.
  • Hanging baskets of flowers, potted plants on the ground, and half-pots on the walls would be perfect. Consider the addition of decorative bird houses which would be adorable. Adding an outdoor fountain would give your patio added charm, too. Consider whimsical bird decorations on tabletops and by the potted plants.

Have a wonderful time creating your new patio.
