When you have a concrete patio laid, then you should try to put any extra concrete to good use. You can use it to add some nice touches to your garden that are handmade. Not only is this a good opportunity for you to add to your landscaping, but it also gives you a chance to get creative and have a little fun with concrete. Here are a couple of projects for your garden that you can make with the leftover concrete:

Mosaic stepping stones

You can make mosaic stepping stones that have a layer of different colored glass embedded into the top of them that help bring a nice touch of color to your garden while providing you with stepping stones you can use to walk through the garden area.

To make these stepping stones you need to take flat pieces of colored glass and wrap them in a towel. Hit them in random places with a hammer so the glass breaks into small pieces in the towel. Next, spray some cooking spray on a round cake pan and fill it all the way up with the concrete. Tap the pan all the way around it to work out any air bubbles. Set pieces of the broken glass into the surface of the concrete, pushing them down just until they are flush with the surface of the concrete.

Allow the stepping stones to dry completely before you remove them from the pan and set them somewhere safe for about a week after that so they are nice and cured. Then, you can place them around your garden and begin using them.

Creative flower pots

You can make a large variety of concrete flower pots you can use to display potted flowers along the border of your garden, or other areas of your yard. Before you make these pots, you want to gather plastic buckets in the size of your choosing.

Dip each bucket into the cement and slowly pull them out. If there are any thin areas, then you can add to it by smearing on more cement using a putty knife. Set the buckets upside down and use a Q-tip to create a few drainage holes in the bottom of the bucket. When the cement dries, you can pull the plastic bucket out from the cement and you will have a nice pot to use.

Using these methods, you can put that extra cement leftover from laying the patio to good use while you have an enjoyable time crafting items you can put on display.
